News: DC Police Hockey Foundation and Triad Interactive Sponsor Food Drive
WASHINGTON, D.C., NOVEMBER 7, 2006

Bring a non-perishable food item to the November 18 DC Police vs. FBI hockey game at Fort Dupont Ice Arena

The DC Police Hockey Foundation and Triad Interactive are sponsoring a food drive to benefit the Capital Area Food Bank. Non-perishable food items will be collected before the DC Police vs. FBI hockey game at the Fort Dupont Ice Arena on Saturday, November 18, 2006 at 8:00 pm. Triad Interactive personnel will be on hand to collect food and other donations beginning at 7:00 pm. For more information, download the PDF.

The Capital Area Food Bank is in specific need of the following food items: Canned proteins (tuna, salmon, chicken, peanut butter); canned fruits (pineapples, peaches, and pears); 100% fruit juices (all sizes including drink boxes); pastas and sauces (spaghetti sauce); canned vegetables (mixed, green beans, corn); soups (beef stew, chili, chicken noodle, turkey rice); and cereal (CheeriosŪ, cornflakes, Grape-NutsŪ, raisin bran). Personal hygiene items such as diapers, deodorants, toothpaste, and shampoo are also needed.

The Capital Area Food Bank, is the Washington DC Metropolitan Area's largest public nonprofit food and nutrition resource. Each year they distribute 20 million pounds of food through their network of 700 member agencies, including, but not limited to: soup kitchens, homeless shelters, low-income housing communities, day care centers, elder care facilities, youth programs, and faith-based organizations.

The DC Police Hockey Foundation was created in July 2006 to provide a formal, nonprofit organization to support the DC Police Hockey team and to raise money for hockey and law enforcement-related charitable organizations and community-wide nonprofit initiatives. Team activities are supported by public donations, team merchandise sales, and grants.
