Washington, D.C.-based multimedia firm Triad Interactive, Inc., announced today the completion of a series of interactive products based on Peter Norton's® Introduction to Computers, Third Edition*. Designed and developed for Glencoe/McGraw-Hill, the series takes full advantage of Web technology to present complete content and multimedia both online and offline via CD-ROM.

Beginning with Peter Norton's® Introduction to Computers, Glencoe Interactive Browser Edition"(IBE), Triad created a CD-ROM that offers all the contents of the third edition of the popular Peter Norton's® Introduction to Computers,* enhanced with animations, video, audio, hypermedia links, and creative new interactivities that are designed to accommodate self-paced study and enhance retention of concepts. Because it is fully HTML-based, students can view the IBE entirely within a Web browser, using their own familiar browsing tools. An Instructor version of the product was also developed to provide valuable teaching guides and tips.

Additonally, Triad developed two other CD-ROM versions of IBE for instructors who do not want to present the full twelve chapters of material to their students. Essentials offers an abridged version of the original IBE, with material condensed into four compact chapters. Fundamentals includes the full text of the original, but without the chapters on programming and environmental impacts.

Complementing the CD-ROMs, Triad developed the glencoe_online_learning versions, powered by WBT System's TopClass Server Technology, enabling the secure delivery of interactive online courses. Universities can purchase the glencoe_online_learning versions to be used directly on their own intranets or over the internet. Each institution is then able to set up its own hierarchy of administrators, instructors and enrolled students, including specialized class discussion groups, communication systems, and testing. Triad even developed a customized demonstration CD-ROM for Glencoe to use in the marketing of its new Web-based instructional system.

As part of this Peter Norton series and to accompany the Introduction to Computers titles, Triad designed and developed several Windows® 98 tutorial products, including Peter Norton's® Windows® 98 Tutorial, a CD-ROM that incorporates many of the interactive tools used so effectively in IBE. An exciting new feature of the Windows® 98 products is the incorporation throughout of hands on interactivities that simulate the operating system, providing a controlled environment in which the students practice their newly learned skills. The Windows® 98 products also include an Instructor version, complete with Web links, and glencoe_online_learning versions.
